What this average means
We add each numerical grade and divide by the number of GCSE-sized results. For example, 7, 8 and 7-6 contribute 28 points across four results: an average of 7.00.
This is a simple personal numerical average. Schools and sixth forms can use different entry rules, exclude subjects, require particular grades or use a different scoring system. Check the institution’s rules before using this number for an application.
It is not an Attainment 8, Progress 8, UCAS tariff or historical government APS calculation. Letter grades and vocational qualifications are excluded.
